Cerrillos, NM

I took a drive today along Hwy 14. I stopped in Cerrillos and walked around a bit. I got some nice shots of this small town. It is a very interesting place when you take the time to investigate. I was happy to take pictures of little vignettes whenever I could. Here is an example.

Cottonwoods in the Bosque

Today I spent a few hours at the Rio Grande Nature Center. As I walked the Bosque Loop Trail I ended up near the river. I came across this area where there were all these cottonwood trees. I was fascinated by the way they all stood together. Like guards of the Bosque.

A Symbol of Friendship

The days are seeming more like Spring! They are warm and sunny. And with that comes flowers. Today I took pictures of these miniature daffodils in the garden. I can't wait to see what nature brings next.

For my picture today I walked up to the Cross of the Martyrs. I love this walk and the view you get of Santa Fe from the cross. This is an especially nice place to watch the sunset. To learn a little more and see some other pictures (not by me) click here.

Growing Orchids

I have four orchid plants at home. When I first bought them they had beautiful blooms. Once all of the blooms died I kept taking care of the plants hoping that they would bloom again. Well, over two years have passed without any blooms and a friend of mine told me to pick a day and water the plants on that day every week. It worked! This Phalaenopsis started blooming two or three weeks ago.

A Great Spring Day

I spent quite a bit of time downtown today. I walked around the plaza and took pictures and met Diane and Peggy for lunch at Mission Cafe. I found this crocus in bloom in the courtyard near La Casa Sena. I am really glad it is starting to be more spring-like.

Easter Egg

Last night I went to my friend's house (Diane and John) - our friend Chris joined us for dinner and some easter egg decorating. We had a blast - it has been years since I have dyed eggs. Today I took lots of pictures of the eggs - I can't wait until next year!

Like a Mohawk

I took a short walk today and while looking for things to photograph I found this curly thing. Not sure if it is just a weed or some native grass. It kind of reminds me of a Mohawk haircut.

"Love" Birds

I walked around Rose Memorial Park today after work. Since it is still winter there weren't any roses in bloom. I managed to get a nice picture of these "Love" birds on top of the fountain in the middle of the rose garden.

Rock Arch

This morning was quite lovely - meaning there was no wind. It was a little chilly but absolutely no wind. So I headed to the Dorothy Stewart Trail. I had a leisurely walk along the trail and I took a lot of pictures. But this one caught my eye. I was fascinated that someone could construct this arch just on the side of the trail. I looked up rock stacking when I got home and it is amazing what some people can do.

Today I was walking around the yard and looking at all the flowers beginning to peek through the soil. I love the way the ground is cracking as this Tulip begins its life.

Weeds?

It was a very busy day and I didn't have time to actually go anywhere to take pictures. So I walked around the property and found this plant. Not sure if it is a weed or some kind of native grass - so I am calling it a weed. I like the little fuzzy parts.

It's All About Art - Part II

I had such a great time on Canyon Road yesterday that I decided to go there again today. I only walked about one third of the street yesterday so I walked the other two thirds today. I found some very interesting art pieces and I liked this one - I especially liked the way it reflected things - see the tree in the middle.

It's All About Art

Canyon Road in Santa Fe is all about art. There are galleries after galleries full of interesting art. You can find any kind of art you are looking for on this road. So today I took an art walk. I had a great time photographing many types of art pieces. In fact I had such a good time and I only covered about one third of the road that I have decided to go for another walk tomorrow. So look for another art photograph then.
