Today I spent a little time out on Red Bud Isle in Austin, TX. The island had a short walking trail that makes a loop and a few short trails off of the main trail. It was an enjoyable time. I especially loved seeing the Redbuds in bloom. They hold fond memories of my college days at Texas Womans University in Denton, TX. The campus was filled with Redbud trees.

Windmill in Vega, TX
Today was spent driving with Astro D from Santa Fe to Dallas. Along the way we stopped for a letterbox in Vega, TX. From the box location there was a view of this windmill in a cow pasture. I am not terribly happy with the photo but the drive did not really lend itself to the best photographic opportunities. I promise to do better.

Rock Formation
Today I took a drive along the Turquoise Trail from Santa Fe to Cerrillos. It was a beautiful day for a leisurely drive. Along the way I stopped and took pictures of rock formations. I never really noticed all the different formations along the road.

Graffiti
I was out looking for things to photograph. I happened upon this graffiti mural. It was not defacing any property - it was a freestanding art piece. I have come to respect some of the talent that goes into some of these creations. I don't condone graffiti that is done on public and private property - that is a blatant disrespect for other people. But I do love the art if it is done legally.

Crystal Landscape
This morning I woke up to a snow covered landscape. With the sun rise it looked like crystals all over the place. I had a great time taking an early morning walk in this crystal landscape.

Heart of Gold
For Valentine's Day I gave Thomas a couple of gifts. This little statue was one of them. It is entitled Heart of Gold. And that describes Thomas perfectly.

Almost the Full Moon
Last night I missed the lunar eclipse and full moon because of cloud cover that resulted in snow. So tonight I watched for the moon to rise. I thought I would miss it because of cloud cover but then fortunately the clouds parted and the moon was revealed. I love the full moon, I love watching it rise over the Sangre de Cristos and I love how it gets the coyotes howling. So this picture is almost the full moon.

Beautiful Blue Bird
I took a short break from painting and spent some time sitting out on the porch. I had a good afternoon of bird watching. Mostly I saw lots of these beautiful blue birds. This one sat on the bird feeder most of the time that I was out there. I enjoyed the relaxing afternoon and the bird watching.

In the Still of the Night
I worked all day on the house - Thomas and I are painting and fixing up every room. As evening approached I went outside to take pictures. It was a very still night - no breeze and no movement. The stillness overwhelmed me -Absolutely peaceful!

Casting a Shadow
I had a very busy day and was unable to take pictures until after work. On top of that I had to be at the community college for a class tonight. So I went out to SFCC a little early and took some pictures - I found this tree casting its shadow against the building and I liked the double imagery.

Rock Lizard
I drove up and down Airport Road in Santa Fe today. There is a foundry with a couple of sculptures out in front. I stopped and took a few pictures. The foundry is the Dell Weston Art Foundry and I liked the contrast between rock and metal of this sculpture. I also like the the way the metal looks against the blue sky.

A Snowy Walk
After work today I decided to drive up to Hyde Memorial State Park. I walked the snow covered road leading to Group Shelter 2 - and talk about a work out. I kept sinking from 6 inches to a foot into the snow. I actually had a great time - it was a nice refreshing way to end a busy day.

Gin Anyone?
I took a walk through Amelia White Park today. This is a small park in Santa Fe where I happen to have found my very first letterbox. Since it is winter there wasn't much going on there and really no flowers or plants that were worth photographing. Then I stumbled upon these juniper berries. I love the contrast between the berries, the branches and the bark.

Mosaic
Today's picture comes from the Santa Fe Community College. I went to the college and just walked around. I took pictures of anything and everything. This mosaic is just gorgeous. I think I took about 50 pictures of it. I just love how colorful it is!

Round and Round
Who doesn't like carousels. It is so neat going round and round and up and down. The carousel horses are so colorful and you always walk around and find just the perfect one to ride. Today I went to the mall and watched the kids do exactly that. Aaahhhhh! Memories of childhood!

Downtown Santa Fe
After work today I made it down to the Santa Fe Plaza. I walked around on a beautiful and warm (61 degrees) Sunday afternoon. I just walked and took pictures. I was going down one of the side streets when I came upon this vignette at Seret & Sons. The warm colors were so inviting.

Artemisia ludoviciana
This is a plant that both Thomas and I love and is also called Silver King. We don't have any around our house because it tends to spread like wildfire. Thomas' mom planted some years ago at her house and managed to keep somewhat contained. Today I noticed the silvery-gray plant while out looking for things to photograph and it became my picture of the day.

Bunny
Another busy day at work and I didn't really have time to go anywhere to take pictures. So when I got home I walked around the yard and just started photographing things. Thomas has this little metal bunny in the yard. The sun was hitting him just right and I love the way he is surrounded by some lingering snow.

Primary Colors
Today was an extremely busy day at work and by the time I left I was so out of it. I was half way home when I realized that I needed to take some pictures today. So I decided to take pictures around the house. I recently purchased a wind thingy that is made of thin ribbons in primary colors - so I took a bunch of pictures. But of course the wind was blowing and it was hard to get a good clear picture - but somehow I managed.

Adams Motor Grader
Thomas' cousin Willie collects antique motors and tractors. Today I walked around his collection and took a few pictures. This one is an old Adams Motor Grader from around 1940. This particular one is still in working condition and has saved us from being stranded a number of times.

Motorcycle
Today I walked the property in search of a picture for the blog. Thomas' cousins used to run a junk yard and there are still things there that they never got rid of when they closed the business. I walked around all the remains and I stumbled across this model of a motorcycle. It caught my eye and I like the detail.

Foggy Sunrise
Today I left Dallas to make my way back home to Santa Fe. The day started just like the day I left Santa Fe - foggy. As I was driving north on US287 I saw this sunrise in my rearview mirror. I quickly pulled off and took this picture. The simplicity really struck me and that is why it is my picture of the day.

Nature at Work
I spent a couple of hours at the Dallas Arboretum today. There were tons of flowers in bloom. And it was so peaceful. It was a gorgeous day. Warm with a gentle breeze. I walked and sat & relaxed and took pictures. I was lucky enough to catch this bee very busy at work. So here is my picture of a great pollinator.

Spring in Winter
Eddie and I spent the day in downtown Dallas. One of the places we visited was the Dallas Farmers Market. There were plants everywhere. They had the most beautiful flowers spread out all over the place. It was nice to see a little of spring in the middle of winter. I especially loved the Gerber Daisies.
