Windmill in Vega, TX

Today was spent driving with Astro D from Santa Fe to Dallas. Along the way we stopped for a letterbox in Vega, TX. From the box location there was a view of this windmill in a cow pasture. I am not terribly happy with the photo but the drive did not really lend itself to the best photographic opportunities. I promise to do better.

I love windmills!!

In fact if the picture was minus the cows, I think it would be sublimely perfect!

The cows give the picture character and context. Keep them. But maybe it would have been beneficial to wait for them to organize themselves into something a bit cleaner.
There's a story in this picture. I also enjoy the heat waves swimming through the horizon.

What a great photograph. It's amazing how pretty any place in the world can be through the lens of a good photographer.

I remember driving past Vega, TX on the way to my sister's home in Amarillo. We were a long way from home (Tacoma, WA). That was the the year that my husband, me and the dog were on our "Great American Road Trip". I love the Southwest - can't wait to return.
